Rebuilt vs new brake calipers – thoughts?

Front calipers leaking slightly on my Passat, mechanic says replace both sides for safety. New OEM are expensive, but I've heard rebuilt ones can fail early. Anyone with real experience on reliability of reman calipers for daily drivers?

Reman calipers are usually solid if from a reputable source- they strip, hone, replace seals/pistons, and test them. I've used both new and reman; for non-performance cars, good reman ones last almost as long as new at half the cost. Recently needed a pair for mine and ordered from this calipers category https://elartcom.eu/categories/brake-calipers-4 - they stock reman and some new aftermarket, including loaded versions with pads and hardware. Chose reman loaded ones, came painted and ready to bolt on. After 16 months/25k km, zero leaks, smooth operation, no drag. Just flush the system with fresh fluid during install. If budget matters and you're not tracking the car, they're a smart middle ground- browse their page for your exact model.
