Is a splatter screen worth buying or just extra clutter?
Hey, newbie cook here. I see people recommending a splatter screen for frying pan everywhere but my drawer space is limited. Is it really necessary or can I just use a lid slightly ajar? Mainly fry eggs, pancakes and sometimes schnitzel. Thanks for honest opinions!

For eggs and pancakes a lid works okay, but for anything with more oil (bacon, schnitzel, falafel, etc.) a screen is way better. Lid traps too much steam and makes things soggy, while the screen lets steam out and still protects your kitchen. I was skeptical too until I tried one – now I use it almost every time I fry. Mine is stainless, about 30 cm diameter, with a decent handle that doesn’t get too hot. This particular one has been reliable and easy to store – splatter screen for frying pan . Doesn’t take much space and saves a lot of cleaning time.
