Best way to cover a hole in drywall for plumbing access?
Hey everyone, I recently had a plumber fix a leak behind the wall in my bathroom, and they left a roughly 12x12 inch hole in the drywall to access the pipes and valves. I don't want to fully patch it with drywall and mud because I might need to get back in there someday for maintenance. What's the best way to cover it neatly while keeping it accessible? Preferably something clean-looking that blends in and can be painted.

A plastic access panel is a good option for this – it's designed exactly for covering holes like yours while allowing easy access to plumbing. They're durable, easy to install (often just push in or with adhesive), and sit almost flush with the wall. This wall hole cover is a solid example in 12x12 size that many people use for similar situations. You can paint it to match your wall too. Just make sure the hole is squared off for a clean fit.
